How to Install the Titan Telescoping Flagpole

A common question we receive here at Ontario Flag & Pole is how to install the Titan Telescoping Flagpole, and can you do it yourself? The quick answer is yes, you absolutely can!

In this blog we’ll be sharing the tools and materials you’ll need, as well as the step by step guide to a ground installation. You can also see the instructions with photos from the manufacturer here!

Tools you’ll need

  • Shovel, Spade, or Post Hole Digger
  • Tape measure
  • Level

Materials you’ll need

  • 3 bags of post set concrete mix
  • Water
  • 1 bag of pea gravel or crushed rock

Installation steps – As per Bruce 🙂

  1. Make sure to read your instructions completely before beginning! Next, select a location without physical obstruction (a.k.a. no utilities or power lines above or below).
  2. Dig a round “fence post size” hole, 12″ in diameter and 36″ deep. For soft or sandy soil you may need a larger hole and a sono tube.
  3. Once your hole is at least the size stated in the second step, add 12″ of gravel into the bottom of the hole. This is to help provide water drainage.
  4. Install the stop bolt completely through the pre-drilled hole in the ground sleeve. Hand tighten only.
  5. Push the sleeve “into” the gravel while making sure that the ground sleeve is at least 1” above ground level. If you fail to push the sleeve into the gravel, it will allow the concrete to seal the hole and prevent water drainage.
  6. Mix the concrete in the hole with water, stirring to make it pudding-like or according to the manufacturer’s instructions.
  7. Use your “red cap” to cover the ground sleeve while concrete is drying and to prevent foreign objects from entering the sleeve.
  8. After 24hrs of drying time, take off the red cap, and place your flagpole into the hole.

And that’s it! If you have a unique circumstance that you would like advice about, don’t hesitate to reach out to us here at Ontario Flag & Pole. We also have two installation videos available on our website; a ground install and a rock install posted by GP Outdoors.

Our Titan flagpoles come with a limited lifetime warranty card in case anything goes wrong with the internal working mechanisms. They’re also available in three sizes, 15, 20 and 25 feet. See more information here.

We hope you found this information helpful. Happy installations!
